What will my installation specialist do for me?
|
When you contract an installation and programming
specialist to install your phone system, the following services are often
provided. |
- The installer will locate your demarcation or “demarc”.
The demarc is where your service provider (e.g. AT&T, Qwest, etc.)
terminates your incoming telephone lines in your building. If a problem
were to occur with your service, the service provider would be responsible
for testing and maintaining the line up to this point. You would be
responsible for any line issues subsequent to the demarc.
- The installer will test
the lines to make sure that they yield dial tone and are functioning
correctly. This is often performed with a portable test set.
- The lines will then be terminated on your phone
system’s line/trunk ports.
- If office wiring is needed for your
extension/station telephones, the installer will then run wiring from the
processor or control unit to each chosen location. Wall jacks are usually
installed for modular connections to your telephones
- If contracted, the
installer can program the phone system to your specifications. Many installers also offer
initial end user training and maintenance contracts.

How much will the installation cost? |
|
Many installers charge by the hour with additional
charges for extended travel. Charges may also occur on a per service basis
(e.g. $75 per wire run less than 100 ft. not through concrete, etc.) or by
flat rate. Please contact your installer for detailed pricing
information.
